This is Rabbit, Sister to Zeke and one half of the stick up kids.
This is another updated Slime (I'll be posting their updated portraits in the coming days).
I was originally writing a one-shot comic for Cucuy - most of it has been outlined, a lot of the plot and even a lot of the scenes are down in words. My goal was to start storyboarding in December but I kept getting distracted by the world these two live in.
Every day I would sit down to write I would find myself revisiting my own childhood with these two. Riding bikes in the desert, catching lizards so I could watch them eat ants, building forts and being bored on a Sunday. Lighting stuff on fire and always getting away. Happy and the traumatic memories filled the pages.
I started building a world for these two that feels a lot like mine, but as if I had the complete freedom to amplify and stretch any part of it that I want. To find all the wires that connect this world and theirs, both to mine and to each other.
Writing a world with a vast iceberg floating silently beneath the surface has been the most entertaining and gratifying thing I've ever done in my life.
Part 2/5
I continue to work on Slimes almost every single day.
Often that's journaling, world building and research, character webs and individual lore. Puzzling over how to tie the universe together for 50 unique characters.
Over the last month or so I have begun to update some of the Slimes I wasn't completely happy with. I'm doing my best to retain the soul and energy of that character, while bringing them up to date with my growing skills as an illustrator.
This is Zeke, brother to Rabbit and one half of the Stick Up Kids.
