Here’s my heart, New Orleans. From porch conversations to church basements, from Lakeview to the East, I’ve listened, because listening fuels leadership. Today, the New Orleans City Council passed my ordinance establishing the city’s policy governing the release of photographs and video footage from crime and accident scenes involving death and serious bodily injury. The ordinance provides privacy protections for victims and their families while ensuring that law enforcement and judicial processes are not hindered. This is about respect. Our goal is to protect victims and families from unnecessary harm while maintaining transparency where it truly serves justice. I remain committed to improved processes in all of New Orleans city government. Vote this Saturday, October 11, from 7 am - 8 am.

If you've paid your debt to society, you shouldn't be discriminated against in hiring, housing, or anything else. So I was proud to pass unanimous legislation to give everyone a fair chance in our city hiring and contracting. Vote to adopt the Fair Chance Act this election! You can vote for the Fair Chance Act on Election Day, Saturday, Oct. 11.

Algiers is New Orleans. Lakeview is New Orleans. New Orleans East is New Orleans. I'm shining the light on every corner of New Orleans, because it's all New Orleans! There'll be no neighborhood left behind in an Oliver Thomas Administration, with resources, beautification, and investment in every community, no matter which side of the bridge or highway you're on.

If someone is digging up your street, you should be able to easily tell which department it is and a clear timeline for completion. Federal and state leaders need to improve coordination with the leaders of New Orleans before investing in big-money, long-term projects that will disturb our natural environment and our living conditions.
