Another of my formative influences gone. Fond memories of Tony Soper's programmes - wise, fun, conveyed in that distinctive voice with infectitious enthusiasm and a gentle authority. Also set a high bar in craggy jumper/waterproof coat fashion, the clothing of heroes.
