I first met
@amandapey through my partner,
@jacsrice, when she was building her prior company, Braid.
Braid was a WILD ride: years of building with little fanfare, interrupted by the magic of product-market fit. Then, the heartbreak of having to off board happy customers and replatform with a new banking partner. And then, the relaunch! People came back!! Throughout, Amanda was transparent, optimistic, and above all, dogged.
Eventually Braid hit a roadblock that even Amanda couldn’t move, and she shut down the company. But she did it her way: buying Braid’s IP (because you never know) and writing a brilliant and shockingly candid blog post about Braid’s journey and her own psychology as a founder. Her essay went deservedly viral.
Two years later (to the day!), Amanda is back with
@ourpools, the spiritual successor to Braid, only better. Pool makes it easy for groups of people to collaborate on money - whether you’re a neighborhood HOA, an athletic team, roommates, etc - with fine-grained controls and collaborative features. You can join the Pool waitlist today.
@alexrkonrad of
@UpstartsMediaCo does an incredible job chronicling Amanda’s journey and the bet with Pool. Link below.
We’re obviously proud Pool investors at
@coalitionvc. When you have the opportunity to back a founder courageous and crazy enough to take a second swing at a problem they just can't move on from, you say yes. Very quickly.
