If you know what needs doing, get a specialist. If you're still trying to find out the golden path to achieve your mission, get a generalist. Generalists have a broader vision of how the dots might be connected.

In 1988-9 at Birmingham Poly, my course had a typography lecturer called Jenny, who forced us to select a random typeface from a hat and then reset a menu in that font using one type size.
It's felt, at times, like I've been doing that brief ever since.
