Today architect Rafael Viñoly passed away at the age 78. During his illustrious career Viñoly amassed a robust and diverse portfolio of buildings, including 432 Park Avenue in New York and 20 Fenchurch Street in London.

So let's stop treating downtown streets like extended highway onramps to flush vehicles in and out everyday, and rethink them as PLACES that can support downtown families, local businesses, arts, music, etc.

Instead of an ‘alternative’ plan that is basically the 1980s status quo, we need to be bold and NOT widen 77 now, if ever. Kicking the mobility can down the road 10 years is just what will stifle the regions growth and quality of life, not what will allow it to thrive.
