Argentina can borrow in dollars until October 2027 at about 5.02% annual yield. To borrow just one year longer, until October 2028, investors demanded 8.5%. Why the difference? Argentina has a presidential election in 2027. . In plain English: investors are much more confident Argentina will pay while Milei is in office than they are after a possible Peronist/Kirchnerist return. Tip: Don’t elect people the bond market thinks are less likely to pay their debts. They're not going to do good things for your country.

Real-time hack detection should be a public good, for the people, by the people. Not something that costs 50k a year. Who is interested in working on this with @jerrythekid and I ?

some will criticize @arbitrum for going against decentralization, but their other option was to wait on a decision by @KelpDAO and live with the consequences

a few parties had bad risk management and now a lot of people will have to pay for it. this isnt a defi specific issue. same thing happened in the 08 financial crisis. the difference is that tradfi can take the liberty to make the whole world pay for it.

lawyers at aave must wait for laywers at kelp to make a decision and then they can come to a decision on behalf of aave. "decentralized" finance is forcibly waiting on them in order to resume functioning

Been looking at @ryskfinance recently. Selling an option there is a lot like setting a one-sided concentrated liquidity position with a few caveats. Of course, the pre-set expiration date is constraining, but getting a known premium amount upfront is nice. No need to model expected returns on the position. My favorite part though: the binary exercise at a preset strike price. Uniswap converts to and from asset/quote on a curve, while rysk does it parametrically. At first, it may seem like a detail, but in reality it makes hedging rysk much, much easier. The amount of risk asset my uniswap position holds can change with every single swap, with rysk you either hold the asset or you dont.

People blame incentives for crowding liquidity pools, but their impact on concentration depends on market temperature. In a hot market, there’s opportunity everywhere. Capital spreads. When things cool off, incentive farming becomes one of the few games left. Capital piles into incentivized pools. Incentives do pull liquidity in—but our data shows it’s the market regime that determines how much shows up.

This is a low-IQ take. There is little inherent value in most things. Monetary value exists only in our collective imagination. Gold became valuable because ancient humans agreed it was... You can't eat it or use it for survival. Fiat currency is literally paper backed by a government promise, and both work purely because we share the same fiction. The entire global monetary system works solely because billions of humans believe it does and believe that others believe it too. It has no "inherent value" beyond this. Money has always been a shared fiction. Why should Bitcoin be any different if hundreds of millions of people around the world have agreed that it has value? Saying Bitcoin has "no inherent value" just reveals you don't know the history of money.

JUST IN: @brian_armstrong challenges France central bank governor on Bitcoin at World Economic Forum in Davos 🔥 François Villeroy de Galhau says "I trust more independent central banks with a democratic mandate than private issuers of Bitcoin". Armstrong hits back: "Bitcoin is a decentralized protocol. There's actually no issuer of it. So in the sense that central banks have independence, Bitcoin is even more independent. There's no country or company or individual who controls it in the world."
