Manny Machado is going to be the least liked Padre in history in the eyes of the Friar Faithful when it's all said and done. He's one of the least clutch ballplayers you can find and obviously doesn't care...gonna be a lot worse than Eric Hosmer.

Outside of Sheets, Andujar, and France, every single bat in the Padres lineup is playing well below their averages. Every coaching staff has been blamed for the offensive struggles in the Preller tenure, but watching these guys day in and day out makes it seem that this is the worst group yet. 29th in OPS is beyond horrendous. Obviously, it's not normal to make coaching changes in the middle of the year, but something must be done. Whether that's entirely adjusting the approaches, swing paths, etc or bringing in more resources/coaches, there has to at least be an attempt at improving.

Fernando Tatis is legit on pace to have one of the biggest power hitting fall offs ever. It’s got to the point where it’s not even about when is he gonna turn it around, more just how historic his decline will be. One of the most disappointing things in sports I’ve witnessed.

The Padres suck until the ninth inning. Then, they are the best team all time.

If you’re AJ Preller, there’s two options for what to do with Ethan Salas: call him up or trade him. We know this is how AJ operates, so I say fuck it, and call him up. Worst case is he gets sent back down.

Okay even though we are all in panic mode and talking about Fernando, let’s relax a little bit. This is still a good team. The problem is obvious, the stars need to perform. Get them going and it’ll be alright. Still need a starter though AJ!

Obviously everyone is worried and talking about Fernando’s struggles, but the bigger issue is Manny. $280 million over 7 years for a guy who has looked completely washed the past 4 months of play.

I’ve genuinely never felt stronger about a case FOR trading Fernando Tatis Jr. I never wanted that, I still don’t, but I don’t blame anyone for thinking it’s best for both sides. He’s lost. He’s not the player who got extended. He’s not good.

Fernando Tatis Jr. is basically just hard hitting Luis Arraez with a platinum glove I guess? I mean it’s not bad but buddy we were counting on those 35 bombs😭

The Padres are in such a weird spot. The stars have sucked, but so many of the other pieces in the lineup are playing WAY better than expected. If the stars step up (big if), then this lineup has boatloads of potential.

Padre
Yordan Alvarez at $26.8M per year through 2028 is the Trade Chip to reset the Astros. Still paying for the lost draft picks from sign stealing scandal. Plus, the picks relinquished to sign Christian Walker / Hader. Will get back a big haul.
