Some of us have talked about @pando_network as a potential technical solution here.
The fundamental issue is a systemic weakness in Github's permissioning workflow, which is designed for centralized teams.
Organization admins have excess powers, so there is no safe workflow.

After Github’s ban on developers in certain countries a decentralized alternative is inevitable.
Git protocol is already decentralized. All we need is decentralized login, storage, and social graph on top.

Evidently @github has banned all the Iranian users without an ability for them to download their repositories.
A service like Github must be a public good and must not be controlled by a centralized entity. Another great example of why we as a society need to make web3 a reality

The gist is that you can have collaborative document writing, where as new contributions are merged they are given an authorship weight.
If the content is licensed and later distributed, the authorship weight can be used to distribute value back to the authors.
