Our paper describing an outbred mouse model of influenza A virus infection during pregnancy, and the role of progesterone suppression in the mechanism of adverse outcomes is out now! Thank you to @sabraklein1998 and everyone in the @KleinLab for support!
I've remiss with advertising the amazing work of @KleinLab and this week we published a paper in @mbiojournal showing that suppression of progesterone by influenza A virus mediates adverse maternal and fetal outcomes in mice @patformingunitjournals.asm.org/doi/10.1128…
We are in the critical moment of trying to increase participation in the FIRST @GordonConf on sex differences in immunity. If you have data to share or want to learn more, register: grc.org/sex-differences-in-i…@KleinLab@IghoID
Come learn about MMI! We are a great program with lots of labs doing amazing work on microbial pathogenesis and host pathogen interactions! I am proud to be a phd student here.
We are the guardians of the germinal center! Klein lab members dressed up as our “super hero” immune cells that to protect from infections for the @JohnsHopkinsMMI Halloween party. It was great to see everyone else, and all the creative costumes this year!
Super excited to see this out! We developed a mouse model of influenza a virus infection during pregnancy to evaluate the effects of maternal sickness and antibody transfer on offspring responses to IAV infection or vaccination.

Thanks as well to our reviewers who helped to strengthen the paper with their feedback!
