Oct 1979 a fresh faced 16 yr old began a career in Pathology. 44 yrs later, 20 yrs lab work, 24 yrs lab IT - 5 LIMS, 2 EPR’s, 5 order comms, 2 interface engines and more middleware than I can count, time to retire. Thanks @NHS wouldn’t change a thing (well, maybe wanna-cry!!!)
Last week we welcomed Tom to the team which brings us back to full capacity. In addition to IT skills and enthusiasm, he brings Cell Pathology knowledge which will be invaluable to us moving forward (especially with Digital Pathology knocking on the door)
I appreciate this not a personal account but I feel the need to hijack it just this once.
Today sees the end of my tenure as a Queens Scout.
Your Majesty, the honour has been mine Ma’am.
Second change this week sees Mike take the well deserved step up into the system manager role. Hearty congrats young man, we (by we, I mean me) are lucky to have you.
Phase 2 of team leavers sees the departure today of my No1 @pwiggaz from the Path IT family. No-one is irreplaceable, but some are damned near close and Paul is one of those. He takes with him my thanks and best wishes for the future. The coffee machine however, stays with us 😁
A bitter sweet day today. We wish team member Diane a long and happy “proper” retirement after nearly 30 years at LTH Pathology. No-one knows everything but when it come to how the legacy systems work, Di comes pretty close! Best wishes from us all (I’ll miss our chats 🙂)

Big shout out to @MercedesAMGF1 for co developing CPAP device with UCLH. Well done folks and thanks for providing the evidence me and fellow team member and F1 fanatic @Joolz_Tea need when we next have to argue that F1 is more much than making someone go round a track really fast
Friends, romans, countrymen, lend me your ears. We’re flat out with this Covid thing and we need your help. It’s a hard thing to ask but is the right thing to do...
Finally! The last old analyser has been replaced. Once again @pwiggaz rose to the challenge. @saeedumarlthtr @VenPadala@lizzymint13 pathology is now an XP free zone 😁.
Bit of a sad day today - we bid farewell to our CIO who goes onwards and upwards. Thanks @VikkiLthtr for your support and strong leadership. You will be very much missed.
Oh me, oh my, oh WHAT a day!@VikkiLthtr @saeedumarlthtr @VenPadala - LIMS server migration successfully completed. BIG apologies to lab staff @maria_burn@LancsHospPath for the disruption but the server upgrade was unavoidable. Thanks to all concerned for your ongoing support 😁
Big shout out to team member @pwiggaz for fixing the UF analyser interface PC saving significant time and cost to the trust. Suppliers??? - who needs em 😎
Following an extensive selection process, @pathIT_LTHTR welcomes its newest team member Apologies to @GreggsOfficial for the impact this may have on the takings at your Fulwood branch (although we’ll likely still pop in for brekkie rolls)
Our Nagios LIMS monitor devised by one of the team has become an invaluable way of seeing issues before they become problems. @pwiggaz nice work Number 1.
First ever power down and restart of LIMS database servers today, worked like a charm. Excellent tech giving us confidence in our business continuity plans. Thanks to @saeedumarlthtr and @techteam_LTHTR for your continued support.
