This morning, outside of City Hall, our
@NiagaraFalls community raised the
#EveryChildMatters Flag and then lowered it to half-staff to mark
#OrangeShirtDay and the
#NationalDayforTruthandReconciliation. Today, we wear orange to raise awareness of the tragic legacy of residential schools, and to honour the thousands of survivors. Our City’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee was present to unveil a brand new commemorative orange bench located along Queen St in Rosberg Family Park where anyone is welcome to take a pause to rest or reflect.
Thank you to all individuals who came together in a spirit of reconciliation and hope to honour the Indigenous children stolen from their families and forced to attend residential schools. Every year and every day we strengthen our relationships toward Truth & Reconciliation. We can all continue to listen, learn & support.🧡
