Since the start of the
#COVID19 pandemic, Luis Ostrosky, MD, professor and chief of infectious diseases with
@McGovernMed and
@memorialhermann has worked tirelessly to be a trusted voice of reason for many in the Houston area and across the country.
With over 250 media interviews about COVID-19 under his belt, Ostrosky has earned that title. Because of his hard work, he was recently honored with the Trusted Messenger award by the
@HHSGov We Can Do This COVID-19 Public Education Campaign. The campaign is a national initiative to increase public confidence in and uptake of
#COVID19 vaccines and educate the public about the availability of COVID-19 treatments while reinforcing basic prevention measures.
“Misinformation is a major threat to public health,” Ostrosky said. “During the pandemic, I made sure to set aside some time every week for media interviews to make sure UTHealth Houston is putting reliable information out there. I’m honored by this recognition and share it with the whole communications team.”
The award reads, “Your medical expertise nurtures confidence in patients and neighbors alike and has been invaluable in delivering the facts to Americans from voices they can trust.”
Thank you and congratulations Dr. Ostrosky!
