Since the start of the #COVID19 pandemic, Luis Ostrosky, MD, professor and chief of infectious diseases with @McGovernMed and @memorialhermann has worked tirelessly to be a trusted voice of reason for many in the Houston area and across the country. With over 250 media interviews about COVID-19 under his belt, Ostrosky has earned that title. Because of his hard work, he was recently honored with the Trusted Messenger award by the @HHSGov We Can Do This COVID-19 Public Education Campaign. The campaign is a national initiative to increase public confidence in and uptake of #COVID19 vaccines and educate the public about the availability of COVID-19 treatments while reinforcing basic prevention measures. “Misinformation is a major threat to public health,” Ostrosky said. “During the pandemic, I made sure to set aside some time every week for media interviews to make sure UTHealth Houston is putting reliable information out there.
