one thing bbc merlin did right: colour
Due to the recent Robin Hood trailer, it’s time to remind everyone that the Middle Ages were not dark dreary and lacking color. The Middle Ages were colorful

omg not to be a weirdo but in my latest merlin fic mordred is exactly this, they read pjo and are now begging their mother (morgana ofc) to let them read the illiad
Just sold a copy of the Iliad to a 10 year old who wants to try Homer. She's read 5 Percy Jackson books and wants "the originals" now. Kudos to her and to her mom who brought her down to the bookshop.

i think we collectively should do more to protect black girls between the ages of 18 - 23. it’s such a vulnerable age range, you’re just becoming an adult but still in the midst of shedding girlhood. so many sharks came for my light in that age range.

(chronically online/young) people on twt are committed to misunderstanding stuff so they can have a reason to fight (and feel something ((superiority)). not everyone is a bigot you need to “correct”, i promise you it’s ok to engage in critical conversations without fury

i would like to clarify that this is not some kind of attack on op’s tweet, which apparently multiple ppl thought it was. i think the nuance is that in the context of the show and what they did with it and arthur it wouldn’t have happened. ofc if they had changed stuff and—
at the end of the day, friend or not, merlin is a servant. gwen would not have been at the table either before becoming queen, even though she advised arthur plenty of times before

—done stuff more seriously, this would’ve been the natural outcome of things. which ofc merlin deserved! not negating that, hope that’s clearer. i take things very literal, so “even without the magic reveal” when *they* backtracked arthur’s char’dev so much, would not fit to me

but it was made. and art, artists and anyone involved in the art are not above criticism. so again, idc. bbc is racist, so i repeat: fck the bbc :)
Replying to @pendragonborn
Without the BBC it would never have been made.

not to be controversial but i simply do not think merlin should be knighted based on bravery when baby can barely hold a sword for a minute

you can critically analyse bbc merlin in a serious manner but you can’t forget to take into account that a lot of what went into it wasn’t done seriously

bbc merlin's worst crime was that merlin never sat at the round table with the others. even without them knowing about his magic, it was obvious he should have been there.

don’t speak to me about ‘the adventures of merlin’ that man went through the trenches not adventures
we need to stop saying bbc merlin and start using merlin (2008) instead. fvck the bbc :)

they did not produce the show, they were the chosen broadcast network. i’m sure they could’ve used another one. regardless idc, fck the bbc :)

The show wouldn't exist without the BBC. It's very much the BBC's Merlin.
