i disagree with this take because i think the US is largely regional with differences also in major metropolitan areas. like, indiana and ohio are not two different countries. indiana is a worlds away from california, though. fundamental point i agree with however
I think what most Europeans fail to understand is that the US is... really big. It's essentially 50 countries lumped into one, each with its own culture. Football/soccer culture isn't the same in NYC as it is in LA, which isn't the same as Ohio or Texas, etc.

obviously not the first person in the world to have this take & i’m sure this exists already but i ought to think this through a bit more & come up with an actual map of regions with substantial differences (including metropolitan areas, bc places like nyc are wildly different)

well fucking obviously you guys are all in the same continent and regularly vacation to each others countries. many people from these countries live in the uk and vice versa. there’s lots of overlap. america is an ocean away obviously interactions like these go less smoothly
We can banter with the Spanish, we can banter with the French, we can even banter with the Germans, which given the entire nation of Germany is autistic is a credit to how far those awkward little buggers have come... But Yanks? They just don't get it. They're too serious.
