The symbiotic relationship across the value chain that we are forging with pooltable manufacturers and pool business owners is one that many didn't see coming. Now more people are interested in investing in pooltables especially because of the mpesa automation.

Finance Bill 2026 is asking for permission to kill local businesses. Right now, if your company makes profits, you can choose to: • Reinvest profits back to business • Or distribute it as dividends to shareholders Finance Bill 2026 wants that removed. And be replaced by one hard rule. That, • At least 60% of your profits can be treated as dividends by KRA. Even if you did NOT distribute anything. “At least” means minimum. KRA can push it to: 70%, 80% even 90% if they don't like you. Read that again. Meaning: • If you reinvest all your profits in your business, KRA will says: - Noo. At least 60% must be distributed to shareholders. And since you didn’t, we will assume you did, and demand dividend tax from you. As a result: • You are taxed on money you never paid out • 5%–15% withholding tax on “deemed” dividends Who is in cooked? • SMEs reinvesting profits to expand • Manufacturing businesses expanding • Real estate firms with paper profits but no cash Who is safe? • SEZ companies • NIFC companies • REITs Because their dividends are already exempt. But for everyone else, this is a forced dividend rule. The govt is no longer waiting for you to run your business. They want KRA to run it for you. Is this fair taxation? Or forced extraction?

Whoever came up with the phrase cheap is expensive certainly never fueled at Astrol Petrol Station. 1. It is 100% Kenyan, founded in 2000 by the late Thayu Kamal Kabugi and is now run by the son, James Mwangi. 2. They not only own the land their stations are built on to cut costs but also manage their stations directly rather than franchising. 3. Their fuel contains a high 91 PON rating, which is higher than the premium fuels around, including V-Power. 4. They are not only 2 - 7 shillings cheaper but also never hoard fuel whenever there are shortages. We don’t appreciate such companies enough

Today I was privileged to be among the judges of the Robotics for good youth challenge at the national level which saw teams from various schools compete for a chance to go showcase their tech in Geneva! This comes at a time when we have successfully, scallably integrated fintech

IoT and robotics into a product, PoolTrex Systems ,that is currently disrupting the pool business! It was an honour sharing my story of humble beginnings, soldering with ten cent coin makeshift soldering irons on a wood fire. We keep inspiring the next generation as we stretch

A Kenyan by the name Elias Wekesa has taken Safaricom to court, and every Kenyan should pay attention. He says Safaricom deactivated his line after it stayed inactive for a few months, then reassigned it to another person. When he tried using it again, he was met with a shock. The number was gone. Worse, he says he could no longer receive OTPs from his bank and other platforms tied to that number. This case matters because it touches every Kenyan. Because your phone number is no longer just a number. It is tied to your bank account. Your email. Your work accounts. Your private life. The moment that number is handed to someone else, the risks begin. OTPs can go elsewhere. Recovery codes can land in another person’s hands. Account alerts can reach a stranger. That person is not just holding a SIM card. They may be holding access to parts of your digital life. And if they have bad intentions, the damage can be immediate. And for families who have lost loved ones, it cuts even deeper. A parent’s number. A sibling’s number. A loved one’s number. One day, it holds memories. The next day, it belongs to a stranger. This is why Safaricom must be forced to create stronger safeguards before reassigning numbers. Because in today’s world, a phone number is not disposable. It is identity. And identity should never be reassigned without protection.
