Fascinating visit to the Netherlands. Lowest Neet rate in Europe. Youth inactivity a “last resort”. We are bringing in hiring subsidies and more work experience. And next step - a new generation of youth hubs in every community offering employment and mental health support.

When Hugh was diagnosed with cancer aged just six, his parents Frances and Ceri became carers overnight. Their experiences inspired Hugh's Law. As Minister for Employment Rights, I've launched a consultation to better support unpaid carers and parents of seriously ill children.

People have been rightly shocked by the brutal attack in north Belfast, but the police must be allowed to do their job so the law can take its course. /1

The scenes in Belfast last night were shocking and completely unacceptable. There is no justification for the violence and disorder that we saw threatening our communities, nor for those who encouraged it, online or elsewhere. It is clear that people were targeted last night because of their background and I will not tolerate it. Those responsible will feel the full force of the law. I’ve spoken to the Chief Constable of the Police Service of Northern Ireland to convey my thanks to them and the frontline emergency services for their bravery in keeping people safe. I’ve also spoken to the First Minister and Deputy First Minister to discuss the ongoing situation. Appealing for calm must be the priority, and that is what I urge now. We must let the police get on with their work.

He turns up with a hard hat for a picture but he really doesn’t have a clue. Labour saved over 500 jobs at Grangemouth with a £120 million package and we’ve just announced £350 million to support the chemicals sector. We’re on the side of the workers - he just pretends to be.
I have just visited the vitally important INEOS plant in Grangemouth. Government policies are threatening its very survival.

Lots of good stuff in the UK's new AI Hardware Plan, announced by @leicesterliz today. Great to see it building on both the AI Opportunities Action Plan and @ARIA_research's work on the Scaling Inference Lab. Lots to do, but this is smart, focused and appropriately ambitious.

Millions could re-enter the workforce if better workplace protections for unpaid carers were implemented. That’s why we’re consulting on possible changes to pay and leave entitlements. Have your say: ow.ly/SRRY50Z9fRw

I want to find the UK’s first trillion-dollar firm. That’s why this morning I've unveiled our bespoke concierge service to support businesses of the future to start, scale, and stay in the UK. When I say I’m aggressively ambitious in pursuit of economic growth, I mean it.

Our £1.1 billion plan is backing the British firms developing the next generation of AI hardware. So we get more jobs, more growth, and more control over the technologies our future depends on. I'm backing Britain because I believe in Britain.
We're backing British AI with a £1.1bn plan to boost our ability to develop, deploy, and scale AI tech. Investing in the next generation of British chip companies and computing power will support growth and jobs, strengthen national security, and boost the UK’s competitiveness.

Voice AI will fundamentally improve access to public services. We're partnering with the UK Government to make it easier to access information and services online - especially for people who are visually impaired, struggle to read, or have difficulty navigating the internet.
