It's a difficult year for fish fries, which are often important fund raisers for community organizations. If you can afford it, be extra generous!
Fish fry season is in full swing at churches, fire halls and VFWs in and around Pittsburgh. But some groups are taking this year off due to the rising cost of seafood and other supplies.

Tried Allegheny Elks fish fry (my first!). Wait not bad. Only one person thought she recognized me (newish to Pittsburgh but get it a lot due to my chubby Polish face). Sides ranking: fries; stewed tomatoes; cole slaw; mac and cheese. Bonus points for live music and cheap beer.
