Tomorrow marks two weeks since a hacker stole my RWeberWrites account. I joined Twitter in 2020 and amassed 40k followers in the time since. All of that work vanished in the blink of an eye. DO NOT ENGAGE WITH DMs. X support is non-existent. 😡 Please follow and share, #writers.

For my son Devin’s heavenly birthday today, I spent it creating this in memory of him. Everyone meet my son, now forever in my game… Devin the Lightwalker. Every world needs a light. Today, I gave mine a name.

D2D will now be charging an annual fee if you don't earn enough money from your books. The only book that I've published through them is my first book, Fated to Meet You. While I understand where they're coming from, I also don't have the means to pay yearly for something I subscribed to use for free. I will be deleting my D2D account within the next 30 days, but in the meantime I will also try to see if I can keep my book's ratings and reviews. I've already been contemplating leaving D2D, so this makes things "easier" for me.

Remember that massive open setting I was working on in Unreal Engine? It is a gray void. Well, actually, it is on hold and its replacement is a gray void. It turns out that the same day I posted about it I had to remove 16GB of RAM from my desktop (long story), and now I have to scale the dreams back until I can afford to replace that RAM stick. So, rather than building the REALLY BIG map, that 32 GB of RAM had no trouble with, I am starting a new build of just the Southpoint Lighthouse area to be kinder to my poor PC that has half the power it had just a couple of days ago. We will get back to the insanity by the end of the year, but until then I will, instead, share progress and how-to stuff from a much less ambitious proof of concept scale map that is a small portion of what the larger one will be. Same kind of stuff, but on a more reasonable scale.

This is no joke. This is illegal in at least the US and EU. Below is a template email to use for removing your account. I'd suggest using their Contact Us form _and_ sending it to their support email address, so you're sure you have a copy in your own sent folder. Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer. My advice is stemming from personal/professional experience, Googling and utter annoyance.
How to make money: 1. Have people sign up for free; 2. Tell people who signed up they have to start paying in 30 days; 3. Make it completely and utterly unclear how or where to delete your account. This last step is ✨illegal✨ in both the US and in the EU btw.

Woke up and built a widow, then spent the rest of the morning sorting my Unreal Engine project's stuff into organized folders so that I can open up only the specific area I am working on. That reduced the loaded elements from near everything to just the house without its roof.

I can also now walk up to either the door or window and select to open or close them. I'll add more interactions, such as locked states and the ability to climb in/out through window. All elements are placeholders to be replaced after the underlaying game system is finished.

I am getting really tired of following a tutorial on how to do something in Unreal Engine, only to discover that I can not locate the same nodes that the person in the tutorial is using. Trying to follow along to something made in September 2025 with UE 5.4, however, I can not find two of the nodes the guy uses, I assume because they changed between 5.4 and the version I am using - UE 5.7. It results in increased levels of frustration and a strong impulse to just throw out the entire project and start over from scratch because a full day was wasted just to find out my code is now a mess and I have to waste another day cleaning it up and finding another way to get the results I want.

Note to self - Remember to add animations and such to your horse before you just gleefully click *PLAY* to go pet the new horse you added to your game environment.

I am buried in Unreal Engine working on the lighthouse that will be the starting area, and why I needed the mountains blocked out. The concept is for the player to start out washed ashore out past the lighthouse and make their way to it. Eventually departing the lighthouse to go to the harbor district of the city.

This is the statue placeholder in Unreal Engine, and the concept art made with Nano Banana Pro. I plan to have the statue on a pedestal that makes a kind of wishing well where ship's captains toss coins as tribute to the God of the Sea and Storms for a safe voyage. Land the coin on the ship that the statue holds and it is said to be guaranteed success, but if it falls onto the kraken and lodges there the ship, and crew, are thought to be doomed. Widows also throw flowers to the pool at the statue's feet to mourn those lost at sea.

The statue faces the harbormaster's office and the dockside station of the city guard, between them the public clothes washing area and public water supply for the dock district. AI images show concept art for Harbormaster's Office with its clock tower and the laundry area. I got the image with laundry area by loading a screencap of the area into Nano Banana Pro and describing how the grey-boxed scene should look. I later decided to add the clock tower to the harbormaster's office, but did not load up a reference for that one.
