This is a gem of a post. Also, I will forever regret the Oliver Reed renaissance (or the original Gladiator plot) we never got because he died during the making of this film.
“You knew the first trillionaire?” “I didn’t say I knew him. I said he replied ‘Wow!’ on my post once.”

I've said for many decades now that the script for Commando should be in the Smithsonian. It's all setups, punchlines, and sometimes talking about how badass Matrix is. I often compare it to Man on Fire. 3/4 of that film is melodrama that Commando covers in its opening credits. The rest of the movie is Man on Fire's best 25%. It's a gem.
This Commando (1985) scene is hilarious Why doesn’t Arnie just open the phone box door? Why is Michael Jackson sprinting out of the bar? Why do the guards keep running into Arnie’s fists, and why does an entire army of them work there? God, I love this film.

I went to Funspot in New Hampshire for the first time in years last week and I was absolutely crushed when I discovered that the Space Harrier cabinet wasn't working. The game is a stone cold classic.

This makes me feel ancient, but I've been playing it since the 1970's and look forward to my next round. Happy 50th to an all-time great!

My parents made me go to bed but I remember Mom yelling at Dad the next day because he stayed up to watch the whole darn thing.
It's 1985, bottom of the 18th inning, game on the line, and Atlanta's relief pitcher, a career .060 hitter with no prior home runs, did the unthinkable. It's not called the "Rick Camp Game" for nothing!⚾️😲

RIP to an absolute legend of my childhood, from Spider-Man to SwordQuest.
On behalf of his family, we are sad to share that Gerry Conway has passed away. Gerry was a tremendous icon in comics who shaped pop culture itself. He was a dear friend, partner, and mentor, and our hearts are with his family and the millions he touched through his work.

Would be my most anticipated film.
The retired buddy cop movie we didn't know we needed until now.

Modern publishing's sense of what makes good cover art is an artistic black hole.
The new Redwall cover vs my childhood set. What happened to book art? Anyone else hate modern book covers as much as I do?

As someone who enjoyed the genius of Seinfeld while not being a particular fan of the show, I thought the ending was brilliant. The characters becoming popular despite being reprehensible was always eyebrow-raising to me. The finale condemning them (and the audience) was great!
Since I’m also doing sitcom takes now, let’s talk about the Seinfeld finale. It was widely panned at the time and isn’t remembered well. At the same time, not sticking the landing is largely irrelevant to Seinfeld’s legacy. The episodes standalone and there’s no…(1/3)

I worked with Alexander during my time at inXile. First-rate talent. I hear stories like this across all disciplines from people who should be scooped up right away. It is a bad scene out there.
It's brutal out there: Deus Ex and Unreal composer says he's submitted 50 resumes and gotten one interview in the last year pcgamer.com/gaming-industry/…

My pet theory was always that Caan's character in Thief is the one who taught DeNiro's character in Heat the mantra about "walk away in thirty seconds if you feel the heat coming around the corner."
Replying to @PulpLibrarian
In my mind Thief is in the same universe as Heat

My single favorite architectural feature. Sadly, it's been a while since I've been in a house with one.
Love me a 70’s conversation pit.

What Sony probably would have is Kratos climbing this to go kill some gods or something while Sweet Tooth served some ice cream at the base. That would suffice. Oh, and the the dude with the megaphone in the Crash Bandicoot costume would be hawking tix.
If we're being honest. The Mt Rushmore of videogame characters wouldn't have a single PlayStation character on it even if you were allowed to add a 5th or 6th option.

It was probably the first time that I consciously picked up on elective plastic surgery. I was a kid wondering why James Bond suddenly looked so weird. That's generally the most off-putting thing about the film. Max Zorin's little bouts of inappropriate laughter remain a gem.
I understand all the criticisms about A View to a Kill. But I will never not love it. Relentlessly fun One of the great title tracks Top tier ally in Sir Godfrey Tibbett One of the strongest villain/sidekick combinations Iconic locations Amazing finale Never misses

Not only would I happily replay Morrowind before Oblivion and Skyrim, I've agitated for years over the fact that Bethesda hasn't done the obvious thing: remade Morrowind but with the whole province this time and both expansions built in.

"Go back and play Morrowind and tell me that’s the game you want to play again," said Bruce Nesmith, who worked for Bethesda for over 17 years, adding that playing The Elder Scrolls 3 "would not stand the test of time." bit.ly/4q4GoKh

Dear @SquareEnix - Akira Toriyama is one of Japan's most influential and important manga and video game artists. Censoring his art is grotesque enough, but starting to do so right after his death in 2024 and continuing still is cultural vandalism. Restore his work.
Square censors Akira Toriyama’s work in Dragon Quest VII. “Nothing happens, just the usual.” “I like the censored version better,” says Reddit user catboytype2" Dispatch censors some 🥒. Universal outrage and International news. The “fix” comes in the way It's all tiresome
