We're excited to announce that Pink Cloud has received our first outside funding — a grant from @NIH (NIH)! This 2-year Direct to Phase II award is part of the @sbirgov (SBIR) program, with @NIDAnews (NIDA) as our awarding institute. The grant is helping us make changes and improvements to our products that we never had the resources for. It's also funding a study to scientifically measure our app's effectiveness — evidence we hope will help healthcare organizations and treatment centers offer Pink Cloud to their patients. Our commitment to user privacy remains unchanged. As the prime grant recipient, Pink Cloud maintains full control over our data and research partnerships. On top of the financial resources, working with the good people at NIDA has opened doors for us to meet others working on solutions for people with addictions, both in the USA and around the world. We're grateful to NIDA for believing in our mission and look forward to advancing addiction recovery support worldwide. We're fortunate to live in a country that supports businesses doing research to benefit society.

This #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth we acknowledge the clear intersection between mental & emotional wellbeing and addiction/substance use disorder. According to the National Institute of Health (NIH) multiple studies have found that people with depression, anxiety, and/or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) are significantly more likely to use drugs or alcohol as a form of self-medication. We are grateful we could meet government leaders, treatment centers, and others who serve people impacted by addiction. It was inspiring being around people from across the country doing their best to help empower impacted communities. We learn from each other and get solutions together. Thank you to our friends at the @LAEDC for hosting the 88 Cities Summit event at the Torrance Cultural Arts Center in @TorranceCA. We are grateful we could continue to talk with government leaders, businesses, and other professionals. While many of us may be dealing with some hard problems right now, it's reassuring to see how the power of collaboration can create real-life solutions. It is always nice getting to an LA EDC event and remembering it was at one of their events a few years ago where we were introduced to entities that help support small businesses in finding resources.

Have you ever tried a new meeting and thought this when you found out they do a 15 minute meditation: What?! Who are these show offs?! I really picked the wrong meeting! Stay close. Lean into it.

Recently, we heard someone say: “We hit rock bottom, and when we looked around, we couldn’t find anything else to blame.” Accountability is the first step.

There is a new advisory warning us that drinking alcohol may increase the risk of getting some kinds of cancer. We could update warning labels on alcoholic beverages to let people know about this risk. While we may not remember many of the warning messages from our drinking days, it can't hurt to add this one - it might be the one that helps someone choose a healthier path.
