Podcasts and thoughts about games by @moonroofstudios, @bryanskursha and Clint Jones. “Great video games are like playgrounds you go back to again and again”
After our @pixelplaypod cast on DotAGE, I had the chance to interview @PirovanoMichele , the game's creator. It was a great exploration of balancing the game's city builder and roguelike parts, the Domains, and the game's board game inspirations. More at pixelatedplaygrounds.com/sid…
Bryan and Josh take a look at the roguelike village-builder and prophecy-defier DotAGE (@dotagegame). They were only sometimes able to keep everything from catching on fire 🔥🛖🔥

Hello out there! Hope everyone is enjoying their Summer! Checking in with a few updates from Pixelated Playgrounds HQ. We closed out April by exploring the world of Incrimental games with Universal Paperclips, SPACEPLAN, and (the) Gnorpe Apologue. buff.ly/4eRjrFZ
Thanks to everyone who has reached out, suggested games, or left a review / some kind words. We appreciate you and we are listening! We have casts about DotAGE, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and Animal Well in the works (...among other things). Take care and keep on gaming!
Spring of 2024 was a time of compelling indie games for Pixelated Playgrounds. We ended February with The Looker, a loving (?) satire of Jonathan Blow's The Witness. Good satire is hard to find but developer, Bradley Lovell, hits the mark! buff.ly/4aAW5lj
After that Bryan and Josh played Tunic, a game that delivers stronger than almost any other title on the promise of a genuine feeling of discovery. Its a game that rewards looking beyond what’s on the screen and experimenting with every object. buff.ly/3vUDIIZ
Most recently, aspiring linguists Josh and Bryan made their way up the tower featured in 2023’s Chants of Sennaar! Its a game about culture and communication so what better way to celebrate it than through a discussion of its design, themes, and artistry. buff.ly/3JgReK2
In honor of the upcoming #TurnBasedThursdayFest, it's time to decide the GREATEST TURN-BASED GAME EVER! We have a SIX-DAY tourney between 64 classics, and YOUR VOTES decide the winner! Links to brackets in 🧵
@turnbasedlovers@turnbasedlovers - thanks for your hard work!
The Pixelated Playgrounds crew is checking in for the new year with an update on recent episodes. From classics to 2023 GOTY contenders, games small and large! December 2023 started with Josh and Bryan taking a high speed run through Sonic 3 and Knuckles! buff.ly/3UKHizp
After that it was time to dive deep into the waters of indie gaming as Josh and Bryan play the aggressively random, and often unbeatable “Immersive Sim for People Who Hate Immersive Sims”, Mosa Lina by Stuffed Wombat. buff.ly/3SGxUub
And finally, gather your party and join Bryan, Josh, and Clint for a journey through the Forgotten Realms as they cover the breakout D&D simulation CRPG, Baldur’s Gate 3! buff.ly/3HZ8CSY
Its been a busy couple of months at the Pixelated Playgrounds podcast-works! Here's what's been going on with the gang: We opened October with the charming Mr. Saitou! A wonderful, emotional, and brief game about self-discovery and friendship. buff.ly/47YRkAb
Finally, Bryan and Josh closed out November by continuing their adventures in Faerun with Baldur's Gate 2. In the 20 years since its release, many would consider it to be the pinnacle of the CRPG genre. So gather your headphones, and venture forth! buff.ly/3R0v2re
As we look to close out the year, look forward to podcasts featuring Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Knuckles, as well as the inimitable: The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom!
