Happy Friday! 🌌 🎨 This week's #SciArt features a Coronagraph from the Moon, by PSI cofounder William K. Hartmann. A coronagraph is a device that blocks out direct light from the Sun so the corona can be studied.

However, coronagraphs can’t be used effectively on Earth due to scattered light in the atmosphere. But, the Moon lacks an atmosphere, so astronauts could create a handheld coronagraph for use on the surface. Learn more about the collection: buff.ly/M9qipVt

Her research focuses on how the surfaces of rocky planets, asteroids & moons in our Solar System evolve, specifically focusing on several themes including resurfacing on rubble pile asteroids, Martian polar surface variability & explosive volcanism on the Moon & Mercury.
