This afternoon, accompanied by Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor Hon. Evans Kapkea, I concluded the inspection tour at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) Multi-Speciality Hospital project, a transformative healthcare investment that will significantly enhance access to specialized medical services in the region and across the country and indeed Africa. Its construction is being under Ministry of Defence working with Ministry of Health. The 2,000-bed facility (phase 1) will be the biggest hospital in Kenya. Once completed, the hospital will bolster Kenya’s healthcare capacity, support advanced medical training and research, and strengthen the delivery of quality healthcare services to wananchi. It will be completed by early 2027. Present were national and local leaders, officials from the Ministry of Defence, and representatives of Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital.

I was honoured to preside over the graduation ceremony of Senior Command and Staff Course No. 41–2025/26 held today, at the Joint Command and Staff College (JCSC) in Karen. On behalf of our Cabinet Secretary, Hon Soipan Tuya. It was great to celebrate the achievements of 95 course participants, comprising 71 officers from the Kenya Defence Forces and an additional 24 from allied nations drawn from Africa, Europe and Asia. JCSC continues to play an important role in developing the professional knowledge, skills and strategic understanding of middle level military officers, preparing them for greater responsibilities in command and staff appointments. Here, officers are molded to adapt to the ever evolving and increasingly complex security environment. Beyond operational excellence, the programme exposes officers to national, regional and international security dynamics that influence Kenya’s national interests. Present at the event were the Vice Chief of the Defence Forces, Lieutenant General John Omenda; the Service Commanders; the Commandant JCSC, Major General Eric Kinuthia; and other senior military officers from Kenya and allied nations. Congratulations to all the graduates. Step out and be successful in applying the knowledge and leadership skills gained in service to your respective nations.

Later, this afternoon, I joined a few of my colleagues Principal Secretaries on a visit to Konza Technopolis. Being a vision 2030 project, it is Kenya's "Silicon Savannah" which is designed as a technology hub and city. Konza Technopolis features a 5,000-acre master-planned city set to foster science, innovation, technology, and commercialization to drive economic growth. Many digitally driven firms, enterprises and industries are already setting up here. It is indeed the next big thing in technology, innovation and science in East and Central Africa.

Pleased to join H.E. President William Ruto, H.E the DP Prof Kithure Kindiki, and thousands of Kenyans in Wajir County for this year’s Madaraka Day celebrations. This year’s celebrations were particularly historic, marking the first time in the history of our nation that Wajir County, and indeed the Northern Region, hosted a national celebration. A testament of H.E the President commitment to leave no one, no region behind. As we commemorated 63 years of self-governance under the theme “Education, Skills and the Future,” the President outlined key interventions aimed at expanding educational opportunities and strengthening human capital development, including the establishment of a university in Wajir County. I am particularly pleased by the timely completion of the 10,000-seater Wajir Stadium. Implemented under the supervision of the Ministry of Defence. The pending works will be completed within the month. Wishing all Kenyans a Happy Madaraka Day!

Earlier today, I joined participants of the Joint Command and Staff College (JCSC) Course No. 41–2025/26 for a 41-kilometre marathon run held to commemorate the College's 41 years milestone. The event comprised a 41-kilometre run, walk, and cycling activities, all of which commenced from the College in Karen. I did 42kms run- non stop- in under 4hours. The initiative promotes physical wellness and strengthen camaraderie among course participants, underscoring the importance of resilience, discipline, and teamwork. Values that remain central to military service. As the College continues to build capacity among course participants, such activities reinforce the mental and physical preparedness required in service to our country. Also present at the event were the College Commandant, Major General Eric Kinuthia; the Deputy Commandant, Brigadier David Chesire; and other senior officers.
