While they recommended (imposed) lockdowns and social distancing for everyone else, they invoked their scientific authority to grant this one magical exception, as if the pathogen would politely disappear for approved political gatherings. For millions of people, that was the turning point. The experts were no longer seen as neutral arbiters of truth. They were revealed as political instruments inside the machine, deployed to manufacture compliance with whatever the State demanded. TLDR: beware the “experts”
