IOPC’s 2025-26 figures show more police referrals than ever before. 7,088 referrals were received, icon of bar chart showing an increasing trend. An arrow linking this fact to the following text: This is the highest number of referrals that have ever been received over a 12-month period since IOPC’s inception. It’s also the first time in IOPC’s history that more than 7,000 referrals have been completed. 316 independent investigations, arrow icon showing an increase of 31% from 241 in 2024-25. An arrow linking to a pie chart mapping out 32% of the independent investigations were complaints, 42% were Allegations of police misconduct, 26% were Death or serious injury following police contact. Pie chart depicting 73% of independent investigations are now completed in 12 months, with 32% finalised within six months.
