This was such an exciting day! The students in @woschools
were able to meet & view art by Sherry Shine. They had great questions about her process & the business side of being an artist. It was a great way to start Black History Month.
62 years ago today, 6-year-old #RubyBridges integrated William Frantz Elementary School in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Many, including white moderates, believed that she was “out of order.”
Thank you to Ruby Bridges and her family for being “out of order.”
January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month. Thank you to @asafernj (Patti Pfieffer & Gina Cavallo) for facilitating a session on this important issue. Thank you to NC100BW-CNJ & NAUW Plainfield-Brunswick for sponsoring the event.
Today, in celebration of #WomensEntrepreneurshipDay, we take a moment to recognize the social, economic & political achievements of women across our state. Women entrepreneurs bring with them innovation, creativity, and productivity that contributes to NJ's economic growth! đź’Ş
61 years ago today, 4 federal marshals escorted 6-year-old #RubyBridges to her 1st day of school (1st grade), as the 1st Black student to attend previously all-white William Frantz Elementary School in New Orleans, Louisiana.
And today, there are legislators and school districts seeking to ban teaching on #RubyBridges under the guise of banning #CRT. We have to stand so that they don’t whitewash U.S. and world history.
Curtain up on the 1st showing of the fall play The Laramie Project! Happy to welcome our senior community tonight for a 1st peek. Shows tomm & Sat at 7:00. So proud of these terrific young thespians who gladly humored me with a selfie. Come on out & show your support! @woschools
