He called the Israeli leader “a very difficult guy.” 🔸 On the Strait of Hormuz: Trump claimed the deal makes the strait “permanently toll free.” The Times noted the memorandum only suspends tolls for 60 days before a regional dialogue, and that Iran never charged tolls before the war, meaning Trump is celebrating a return to the prewar status quo. 🔸 Threats if talks fail: Trump said that if Iran doesn’t reach a final nuclear accord, he would restart attacks on Tehran or make the U.S. “the guardian of the Middle East” in exchange for 20 percent of the region’s revenues. 🔸 On the nuclear terms: Trump compared his deal to the 2015 Obama agreement, saying it ensures Iran “cannot develop or purchase a nuclear weapon.” The Times noted Iran committed to that when it joined the Nonproliferation Treaty in 1970. Trump said negotiations continue over a 15-to-20-year enrichment suspension. He said he’d likely settle for 15 years.
