Still hear some commentators on women's cricket discussing e.g. balance of attacks in England, and thinking they need to be loaded with seam bowlers, as if this is a men's Test. Spinners are and always have been a major threat in women's cricket no matter where games are played.

Yastika's problem, despite her scores of note, is the manner in which she gets her runs. It is tough to fit her into the current batting order, or redundant in most scenarios. Here's the why:
Replying to @cricketByJB
Of the 19 occasions where she's scored 20 plus, 1) 8 times, she's been dismissed within or right after the powerplay (indicated by a circle) 2) In only 4 of these innings, has she struck at less than 100 in the powerplay (highlighted in red) 3) In the 11 innings where she's gone past the powerplay or batted considerably in the middle overs, she's slowed down 5 times (~45%). Basically, almost 1 in every 2 innings is a slowdown.

While the sample size isn't the largest, nor is the distribution of games or venues, Yastika does struggle to accelerate post the powerplay. Another compelling point to this argument is her non-boundary strike rate (NBSR) since the last T20 WC in T20 games. Amongst all prominent Indian batters, she has the lowest NBSR in the middle overs and by some distance! She essentially builds pressure into her batting by not rotating well enough in search of boundaries and ultimately ends up getting out.

Yastika's stroke play has great promise, but a large limitation of her batting at the moment is her inability to maintain her scoring rate once the field spreads. We looked at all her T20 knocks where she's scored at least 20 runs. The innings progressions highlight an alarming over-dependency on the powerplay and having only 2 fielders outside the inner circle (1/2)

Yastika Bhatia's looked good and scored runs in the first couple of T20Is against England. But to make the most of her, India needs to find a way to get her to bat in the powerplay OR not at all. Here's why ⬇️

There you have it! Sooryavanshi's 2026 is the best IPL season for a batter ever (both by Impact and RAA). He just surpassed Pant's 2018 record en route to his 97(29). He is also the highest at RAA/100b (raapb) and Impact/100b. What. A. Phenomenon.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi batted with composure and maturity. So to compensate, a lot of the other Rajasthan Royals batters are playing like the average 15-year-old.

Who cares about who wins and who loses. Just give Sooryavanshi the bat, have everyone bowl at him all evening, no running needed, and let's all just sit and watch.
