IIGH has great potential to shift the debate on global heath equity. Glad to be part of the International Advisory Board.
On 4–5 September 2025, UNU-IIGH had the privilege of hosting its International Advisory Board members and United Nations University Rector, Professor Tshilidzi Marwala (@tmarwala), for the annual Board Meeting held at our headquarters in Kuala Lumpur. Over two days of strategic and forward-looking dialogue, the Board reviewed the Institute’s progress across its core work around Gender Equality & Intersectionality, Digital Heath Security and Governance, Climate Justice & Health, and Power & Accountability. Discussions focused on UNU-IIGH’s unique role in advancing evidence-based policy, equity-driven approaches to address global health challenges. We are honoured by the contributions of our esteemed guests and their insights will be instrumental in advancing UNU-IIGH's 2025-2028 strategy implementation and strengthening its impact across global health. #UNU #UNUIIGH #GlobalHealth

The recent Media Council bill is Malaysia's first law to require gender parity at the board level. Rightly so. Happy International Women's Day! bernama.com/en/news.php?id=2…

The media council protem committee did give feedback to the code of conduct by Jabatan Penerangan. Nevertheless, any endorsement can only be by the media council once properly formed.

The current draft Media Council bill empowers the council to draft its own code of conduct and enforce it accordingly. The Info Dept remains the authority issuing media passes. We hope this clarifies. malaysiakini.com/news/696711

Alexei Navalny had the courage to stand up to a regime that projects strength abroad even as it reveals its vulnerability at home by resorting to imprisoning and physically eliminating its opponents. theguardian.com/world/2024/f…

It's pretty simple, don't aid war criminals.
No one in Congress should vote to send $10 billion in military aid to Netanyahu’s war machine when they are responsible for an unprecedented humanitarian disaster.

Double standards hinder Malaysia's progress
Intan Diana Abdul Rahim is fuming mad. The 40-year-old is angry that her brother, who's been languishing in prison since 2001, has not had a shot at a royal pardon, while a certain politician recently had his sentence halved after spending barely two years behind bars. "We are mad. The difference is that we are common people. So, no one is looking at us," she lamented to Malaysiakini. Full story: mk.my/7eYMW6Y

Interesting background
Piers Morgan gets schooled by Bassam Yousif on how israel came to be. The Jewish pogoms happened in Europe because Europeans didn’t want to pay back their loans.
