Mexico's Julián Quiñones really hit South Africa's iconic 2010 World Cup celebration after scoring against them 😅

A FIFA World Cup host country must guarantee two fundamental principles: the safety of the country — and the unrestricted entry of all qualified teams, officials and referees. The case of referee Omar Artan from Somalia is against one of these obligations. FIFA must never compromise the universality of football. #Fifa #Somalia #GianniInfantino #CAF #OmarAtan #DonaldTrump

There's a class of "stupid people" who lack basic EQ
There’s a class of people in Uganda that seems to be growing by the day. They believe they’re the only ones allowed to be foolish, the only ones allowed to say the most ridiculous things. Even in the most serious moments, they’ll say something completely random, and everyone is expected to let it slide because, apparently, you’ve all allowed them to get away with being stupid.

Replying to @TonyNatif
At 21, Y.K. was mobilising masses and teaching them about development initiatives as he sowed his influence to be harvested years later. 50 years later, a person who'd joined his Movement for just 3 years tried to lecture him about how she was the best mobiliser he'd seen. 😂

Same and I've been watching since Italia 90, I need to see Teacher Henry who kicked me when Lineker scored for England in the game against the Irish..
This will be the first FIFA World Cup since 1998 that I’m not genuinely excited about. The 2026 World Cup also feels different. A 48-team tournament, stretched across a long schedule, hosted in a country where politics, race, identity, and global tensions often dominate headlines. Instead of football being the only story, I fear the noise around it may become just as loud as the game itself. Perhaps I’m wrong. I hope I am. Because a World Cup should unite the world, not remind us of its divisions. For the first time in my life, I’m approaching a World Cup with more questions than excitement. Nonetheless, this is my 8th World Cup & l have been Team France 🇫🇷 since 98. Allez les Bleus 💙🤍❤️

So much animosity toward Kasuku from a section of people here on X, with every little thing being blown out of proportion. Love him or loathe him, the facts remain unchanged👋👋👋by virtually every metric, he’s still one of the finest media personalities around. His humility, humour, and professionalism speak for themselves. No amount of criticism or noise will diminish his impact or derail his journey👌👌

What's a World Cup without fans?

Well put! Unrelated- I still prefer the thread.
We must push back against the likes of Kasuku. Yesterday, I saw a clip of about 51 seconds. In the same, Kasuku was lamenting Sydeny's passing, but seemed too excited and eager to talk about Sydney's partner and mother of their child in ways that I found shocking. 1/6

So @FIFAcom’s position is that a referee they selected for the World Cup can be excluded because of one host country’s racism, and FIFA bears no responsibility whatsoever. Then why wasn’t he assigned to Canada or Mexico? The tournament has three host countries. The obstacle is one country, not the entire World Cup. So why isn't FIFA finding a solution? What FIFA is really saying is that when officials from the Global South are discriminated against, accommodation is impossible and exclusion is acceptable. A World Cup that only works for holders of the right passports is not a global tournament. It’s a privilege masquerading as one.
#BREAKING: FIFA Clarifies Its Official Position on the Case of Somali Referee Omar Abdulkadir Artan @FIFAcom has confirmed that it does not interfere in immigration or visa procedures, as these matters fall under the authority of the host country. The world football governing body explained that, as in previous tournaments, the host government has the final authority to decide who is granted a visa and allowed entry into the country. This means the decision regarding Omar Artan's entry into the United States rests with U.S. authorities, not FIFA. This is deeply disappointing.

I Ugaman and many others spent years building Twitter in Uganda and we encouraged companies and government officials to embrace the platform. We shall not watch Ninye Tabz and Dr. Spire take us back to the dark days of bullying people on social media. Not on my watch. You can all me anything you but I know what a proper online community can achieve.

@ReachDrMuganga is undermining a legitimate debate by framing it as discrimination against him as a Munyarwanda. That is not the issue. An expired passport does not mean one ceases to be a citizen; a passport is merely a travel document. Many Ugandan citizens do not even hold passports. The real issue is straightforward: if you acquired Rwandan citizenship while working in Rwanda, Canadian citizenship while in Canada, and later Ugandan citizenship, then simply state the facts as they are. There is nothing inherently wrong with holding multiple citizenships. The question is whether Uganda’s Constitution and laws permit a person with that citizenship history to hold certain offices, including that of Minister. That is the debate—not ethnicity.
