Congratulations to Scientia Professor Fiona Stapleton for winning the prestigious Ruben Medal - the highest honour of the International Society for Contact Lens Research (ISCLR). This award, voted by previous recipients, recognises Fiona’s outstanding contributions to contact lens-related research.
We also congratulate SOVS PhD candidate MD Abdullah Aziz for receiving the Hikaru Hamano Travel Fellowship. Aziz’s abstract received the highest votes during the selection process at the 22nd ISCLR Symposium which was recently held in Canada.

In May, a delegation from RANZCO visited Nuku'alofa, Tonga, to assess and support the nation's eye health care system. Following the fact-finding visit, the RANZCO delegation outlined recommendations to strengthen #Tongan #eyehealthcare.

ALT RANZCO is working with ophthalmologists, health system leaders, governments and NGOs to strengthen eye health care in Tonga, including supporting the construction of a new dedicated eye operating theatre.
