While I think the USP of #AikMohabbatAur is its writing, the way it seems to frame feminism as separate from or replaced by humanism here feels off-putting.

The loss of innocence & youth of 2 star-crossed lovers in the middle of the 'Great Partition' serves as a tragically beautiful metaphor in Imtiaz Ali's masterpiece MAIN VAAPAS AAUNGA; a metaphor for all that we lost on a human level by continuing to be governed by hate to this very day

And there's a song at the end credits where real life-footage of displaced civilians in Gaza, Sudan, Myanmar, 1940s Europe or 1947 Partition is added as a tribute to those who have been made refugees because of conflicts, wars and genocide over several decades. It's a reminder of the humanity that we have lost through endless politics of division and hate
