In this house we:
- practice dialectical materialism (christianity)
- strive towards the proletarian revolution (salvation of the soul on Judgement Day)
- believe in the historical role of the party (keeping up the messianic tradition)
- and most importantly, NEVER STOP GOONING!
I am fairly unconvinced by Houlgate's defense of Hegel's Philosophy of Nature. Seems to me that it either surrenders too much to empirical science and in such case loses it's reason to exist, or, if it stands it's ground, is impossible to justify.
It seems convienient that it considers some phenomena to be logicaly necessary, while others to be merely contingent. I'd rather it be a completely fantastical system that ignored positivist science completely but be fully consistent with SoL, or it not exist at all.
(Almost) new haul. I call this the "I'll be reading this until I'm 30" collection. If anybody has got a good introduction book for Kant I would be much obliged.
