The U.N. Legal Advisor has sided with Israel in the dispute with Ukraine over imported grain from disputed regions. He concluded that while intl'l law restricts the "physical removal of mineral resources" in such cases, it does not ban other economic activity. Grain exports are usufructary in nature, and thus do not fall within the prohibition on resource extraction. (Of course the Legal Advisor did not write this knowing it would apply to Israel, but rather in regards other countries).
