From renowned historian and Inquirer columnist - Ambeth Ocampo: “Tarog’s ”Quezon” is what Filipinos need to see. Too bad, Tarog diminished the power of his storytelling by starting the film with a disclaimer that the film is based on history and told with artistic license. I could tell from the amusing details that Tarog did his homework and read the same sources I have read over the years..” “Watching “Quezon” is unsettling because our present seems to read like the past. It is rooted in Quezon’s wish for “a government run like hell by Filipinos, rather than a government run like heaven by Americans.” We are living in the shadow of “Quezon’s curse,”… “I always tell my students that while Antonio Luna and Gregorio del Pilar are firmly positioned in my list of heroes, Quezon, whom I consider historically important, should be in a different list—that for presidents.”

In the prev impeachment trial, it was the defense — not a Senator — who moved for dismissal due to a ‘fatally defective’ complaint. Sens Koko & Risa were also right — no need to ‘return’ it to @HouseofRepsPH. Watch CJ Corona’s Trial Day 1 at 1:02:53: youtube.com/live/WMZ8OkANf14…

The @senatePH maj’s actions go beyond insulting @HouseofRepsPH, they have actively defied the Constitution’s intent for a swift trial — a slap on the people’s face. Yet another stark reminder that we simply cannot trust politicians to hold their own accountable. #convictsara

Koko Pimentel is showing why he is a bar topnotcher, schooling the likes of Alan Peter Cayetano and other Duterte allies. #Impeachment

Sen Kiko Pimentel is correct — they phrased it so dangerously that Sen Bato is now trying to throw the entire impeachment process under the bus! Lumabas din ang katotohanan!
Then remove the word “return” or “remand” from Cayetano’s motion and simply require the documents being asked — or better pose it as a question to be included in the parties’ Comments! This is borderline dilatory @senatePH #convictsara

Koko Pimentel’s mastery of the Senate Rules - invoking that the motion should be put in writing - have always forced Chiz and Alan to follow him not just once but multiple times. That’s the difference between a bar topnotcher and Alan/Chiz. #ImpeachSaraDuterteNOW

Even @senatePH’s parliamentary practice now is out of order — passing an amendment does not constitute the passing of the original motion. 💁🏻‍♀️

Now, if the purpose of the remand is to require the House to submit certain certifications/facts, this could be done through issuing a compliance order without remanding the case (which implies that the case could possibly not return to the Senate)

If what Senator Alan Cayetano is merey asking for a certification that there is no violation, why bother remanding the articles back but Instead just ask the House to certify there is no violation? As he said l, it is not usual but not anomalous. Frankly, the Senators ….

From "de facto dismissal" to a "remand" back to the House. Andaming iniimbento ng mga senador na ito para lang iwasan ang impeachment trial. Pwede ba sumunod na lang kaya sa Saligang Batas? Haaaay.
