“You’re not like other young mums” is not a compliment. Other young mums are amazing! I want to be like other young mums! 👌 #techmumstv

I've always believed politics is about giving people the freedom to choose their own path in life. So if young people want to have more children, they should have the security to do so. Accessible, affordable, high-quality childcare is key to that. telegraph.co.uk/politics/202…

Large numbers of teen pregnancies are fathered by adult men, this was so normalised in the 90s when teen pregnancies were at their highest and the only condemnation I remember seeing in the media, or socially, was for the teen mothers. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teenag…
Where I went to school in a working class area in the mid 90’s it was fairly common for 13/14 year old girls in my year to have boyfriends in their late teens and early 20’s. Some ended up with kids as a result. Few people seemed to me to really bat an eyelid?

Replying to @Streettough
I remember all through the 90s the concern about teenage pregnancies being "these ungrateful slags are jumping the housing ladder" without a single voice of "these girls are almost invariably by definition being abused" being raised once

For the teen mums 💪💪💪
I am SUPER emotional this week. So proud. So happy. So many emotions. My baby is 16 this week. I dreamt of this week, from the moment he was born. I hoped and begged that I would get us through, that we would have enough money, a safe house, all the resources I could give him. I had absolutely no idea what I was doing, and no way of being able to achieve anything. I was 17 years old with not a penny to my name. I ran away from abuse with my baby at 18 years old - to an area I had never been. I cannot tell you how FULL CIRCLE I feel this week. My baby becomes the age I was when I got pregnant. That tiny little baby I held in my arms as a child myself, is 16 this week. And he’s grown into a wonderful, brilliant and loving person with his whole life ahead of him. Here’s some terrible pics of me at 17 years old, very pregnant! All my love to the teen mums who follow me xxx

Just over 23yrs ago, eldest was born. Being young mum was tough, however last Labour gov gave us opportunity to thrive. She’s just voted for her mum to be next MP for Bolsover; to be part of Labour gov that once again delivers transformational change. I couldn’t be more proud🌹

It really is quite something - she's amazing. (And honestly judging by most of the women I've known who where teen mums, they are the people I'd most want running the country.)
