IDGAF, but this chap with a million hobbies, who can bring a Pushkin novel to life on the ice, and enact Optimus Prime and Terminator with ease, deserves the international stage
Replying to @everxmores
Petr is on there, just as AIN !

And just to clarify I firmly believe that people who have passed neutrality check to compete at Olympics and have earned Grand Prix spots based on their performance should be allowed. In terms of representing a country's flag I believe equal standards should be applied to all.

At least one of the defending champions in singles won't make it past the first week
What's your one bold prediction for Wimbledon 2026? 👀

Salute to @TaniaSachdev and @thelittlehat for such wonderful commentary during @UzchessCup Classical chess for amateur chess enthusiasts can sometimes feel very long, but such great coverage really keeps one on the edge of their seats

Chess folks on my timeline, when did last a player rated in the 2500s win a closed round robin with more than half the field at the start of the event, being over 2700? Or has it ever happened? This is one of the biggest stories of chess this year!
Congratulations to Mukhiddin Madaminov on incredibly winning the UzChess Cup Masters despite entering as a late replacement for Javokhir Sindarov and being by far the lowest-rated player! 🏆🎉 chess.com/events/2026-uzches…

Wow congratulations to Pranesh. Have been following the rating ascension of Pranesh and Pranav, and so delighted that both are now in the world's top 50 in live rating.
Congratulations to @Praneshchess Pranesh for over 2800 performance at the French league and @KarthikeyanM64 and @adhibanchess too for a good show at the French league!

I am honestly tired of this discourse Population is not always proportional to success. Success of China and USA have far more fundamental reasons for sporting success than just numbers. Also the narrative of India being a failed sporting nation is also very shallow
No FIFA World Cup is complete without “if X, a country of y people, can play, why can’t India, a country of 1.5 billion?” posts from Indian fans. (y is a very small number, X is usually not a football powerhouse, often a debutant)

Hockey, also perhaps in a transitional phase has had poor results in the last year, but over the last decade we have been among the top 5 nations in the world (comparing always to 1920s- 1960s dominance is unfair) Boxing we have world champions

Table Tennis and Squash we have got emerging talent that is on the cusp of being world class. Sorry for this rant, but in summary rather than putting up clickbait narratives, enjoy the FIFA World Cup as a fan, and also appreciate Indians in various sports.
