The plan on Iran is to cripple them economically with bombing, then embargo them until they agree to stop attacking shipping. Iran has no way to export oil except by sea. The US will simply confiscate any cargo going in or out.

Dario is a researcher larping as the CEO of the best AI company in America.
>Dario Amodei, who was at a wellness retreat. All of the gov stuff aside, how is the CEO unreachable after a major product release the same week at a "wellness retreat"? Anthropic says this is false but I really doubt this claim, its too stereo typtical to bot be true.

Look at that a new way to spend more tokens to get better results.
Introducing the Fusion API, the smartest compound model in the market. Fusion achieves Fable-level intelligence at half the price. How it works πŸ‘‡

About to hit 35 in that situation.
turning 25 without a spouse or a career has always been terrifying it’s just that it used to be the exception rather than the norm

Leftoids constantly do stuff to stunt on the right when they are in power, but if we do it when we're in power its a ghost dance.
MAGA is a ghost dance. They think they'll reverse decades of American decline by putting on a gaudy WWE-style circus and pretending it never happened.

AI is either going to be incredibly powerful and the military will control it. Or AI is going to have minimal effects on society. There are no other options.
I'm told Anthropic is perplexed by the situation they are facing, so they've turned to @k8em0 to do their on-the-record rapid response. These people really just don't get it....

Kind of interesting that reasoning models gain so much from scale while image generation models just aren't getting that much bigger.

Boomers decided they hadn't fucked us enough. Need to screw over the younger generations as much as possible in their last 5 years of breathing.
Hiring for workers under 25 is reportedly down 45% since 2019, while hiring for workers over 65 is up 80% Is there any logical explanation for this?

ITAR is probably the only way to prevent Chinese distillation attacks.
Restricting their customer base Slowing down model releases (by at least 3-6 months) Models that cross a certain intelligence threshold are now a supply chain risk for non US enterprises and foreign subsidiaries of US enterprises Doesn't look bullish to me

If conditions are so bad the slaves are dying off just get more slaves. No need to improve conditions. In fact make them work harder with less food.

The collapse of higher ed is being framed as a problem of population declineβ€”the β€œdemographic cliff.” And mass immigration is being proposed as the solution. The economic arguments for mass immigration are increasingly like this; they don’t even bother to pretend mass immigration on its own has any net positive value, but only that it’s a temporary palliative to delay the death of failing institutions and business models that refuse to adapt to the market. The institutions deserve to die, and mass immigration won’t save them anyway.

Fable is only 20% better than Opus. Plenty of work can be done in the interim.
Assuming Anthropic is able to restore Fable in the next few days, there's literally zero point doing any meaningful work until it is back. What can be done in 100 hours with Opus can be done in 1 with Fable. Hopefully this is figured out quickly.

Yo are H1Bs even allowed to use Claude Fable?
Fable could be offered to Americans today, but Anthropic apparently has no idea where any of its customers are located or who they even are (which is strange given all the complaining they do about Chinese distillation attacks).

3D Systems basically buys American 3d printing companies then shuts down the factories.

I have some experience in this area. 1. It's very unlikely you can get that reaction from them. These companies generally have management that is comfortable and basically asleep at the wheel. And they are cocky about their expensive products. 2. If you do get a reaction, it will be because you got the attention of someone they care about, investors, board members, press. These are fickle and they won't respond to details about your product. 3. If you do get their attention, they will likely respond with anger, patent lawsuits, etc, not by showering you with money. (This is how we ended up getting sued by 3D Systems months before we shipped a single product, based only on a Kickstarter video)

Elon has provided a billion times more value to me personally than Bill Ackman ever will. Elon deserves every penny and voting share.

If he was a trillionaire and wasn't delivering useful shit on a regular basis (Tesla is useful, Starlink is useful, rocket development and space exploration technology is useful), I could see the angle. But like him or hate him (I am ambivalent about him), he at least contributes something of value to the world. Why shouldn't a guy building space rockets and electric cars be richer than everyone else? It's not like the fucking government can be trusted with that much money either, I've seen what they spend their shit on, no thank you.

β€œWe made this huge new AI, but we’re out of compute to serve it with. Ideally the public can use it for ~3 days to see how good it is before we revoke their access, but we can’t think of a good narrative to explain doing that” β€œSay less, you fat bastard. America is on your side”
The US government, citing national security authorities, has issued an export control directive to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether inside or outside the United States, including foreign national Anthropic employees. The net effect of this order is that we must abruptly disable Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all our customers to ensure compliance. Access to all other Claude models is not affected. We apologize for this disruption to our customers. We believe this is a misunderstanding and are working to restore access as soon as possible. Read our full statement: anthropic.com/news/fable-myt…

The easiest way to profit off of 'AI' is to buy the index.
People are infuriated about Cerno saying β€œplease DCA reasonable amounts into index funds”

For Elon its always been about control. He has a dream. Bill Gates didn't.
This (insane) IPO is the ultimate vindication of Elon’s ride or die investing philosophy. Compare to divest and diversify Gates who would be worth $1.3T if he had held onto his 45% of Microsoft post-IPO. EMH fans in the mud.

Buying guns is what a lot of conservatives do to avoid the actual hard work of politics.
I hope that everyone understands that the reason America has a much longer fuse is because it's a much bigger firework.

Being the only outlet to move AGI off planet is extremely valuable and may be the only thing that enables us to avoid being paperclipped.
The thing about SpaceX is, it's already priced as one of the largest companies in the world. The company may do well, but I don't think there's that much room for growth. I'll be shocked if this is up 100x like Google 20 years later. Expect market returns for something this large
