Have you ever noticed how the biggest breakthroughs in crypto often start with fixing something everyone just accepted as "normal"?
That's exactly the story with
@PythNetwork
Back in April 2021, folks from the Jump Trading world saw DeFi struggling with slow, unreliable price data that could wreck trades in seconds.
They decided it didn't have to stay that way.
By August 2021, they launched on Solana with real-time feeds pulled straight from institutions.
What started focused on one chain grew steadily. By the end of that first year, they had over 40 data providers. Incredible, isn't it?
In 2023, they brought in Douro Labs (spun out by ex-Jump team) to go full time.
Today, it's on another level: over 3,000 price feeds covering crypto, US equities, ETFs, FX, commodities, and more, live on 100 blockchains and power over 700 apps.
They've supported trillions in cumulative transaction volume and quietly become one of the strongest price layers in the space.
The achievements speak for themselves.
First-party data direct from 138 publishers, real exchanges, market makers, and trading firms.
They rolled out permissionless mainnet and PYTH governance in late 2023.
Pyth Pro, the institutional version, crossed $1M in ARR in its first month. They've also built useful tools like Entropy for on-chain randomness, Express Relay for liquidity, and the Data Marketplace so institutions can publish and sell proprietary data directly.
Even the US Department of Commerce picked them to bring official economic data on-chain.
Right now, the focus is strong on Pyth Pro, adding more US equities, commodity futures, and extended trading hours coverage.
The OLD (free) Pyth Core is sunsetting July 31, 2026, as things move to the upgraded infrastructure.
They also just launched Pyth Terminal, a free public explorer for checking live feeds.
Looking forward, this feels like the TradFi meets crypto chapter.
They're aiming for over 10,000 symbols by the end of 2026 and tackling that big institutional market data space.
The vision is one reliable platform for accurate, always-on pricing across global finance.
At its core, Pyth is showing how getting real-time truth on-chain can actually connect old markets with new ones in a lasting way.
If you're in DeFi or following the TradFi shift, it's one worth following closely.
June's updates already have people paying attention.
