Okay fuck it
I think it's possible to enjoy the games through watching playthroughs if they are lore or story heavy, but not comment on gameplay. I don't think it's an equal replacement, but it's a nice alternative to exist for people who can't experience games first hand

I think my opinion can also differ a bit because I and many in my country grew up not having any consoles they grew up with or having only online/pirated games available for them. I'm also in fandoms of games where I've seen fans who play games but don't even fucking read-
