Mandarinfish (Synchiropus splendidus), also commonly known as Mandarin Dragonets. They are famous for their vibrant, neon-like patterns of blue, orange, and green, with their true blue color being produced by rare cellular pigments. Instead of scales, they possess a toxic, smelly mucus that makes them unappetizing to predators. These reef dwellers typically hide during the day and emerge in pairs during twilight to perform mating swims.
