After 18 years at the BBC and 20 years at ITV I have finished my final shift as News Bulletin Editor @GMB The people I have worked with over the last 38 years have been the highlight. Many have become lifelong friends who I will continue to cherish.

John Stapleton was the ultimate professional. A brilliant broadcaster and journalist. But he also showed respect to everyone he worked with. That is why former colleagues are so sad today. He was part of the team and we were all privileged to know him.

So sad to hear that the incredible John Stapleton has died. An amazing mentor and one of the kindest people in TV news. I was so lucky to have worked with him for so long, meeting him on my very first day in TV over 20 years ago. Just a few weeks ago I reunited him with Penny and it was a magical moment. Thank you John for your constant advice, kindness and laughs. You will be sorely missed.

John Stapleton was one of the very best presenters I directed at GMTV and @GMB. His versatility was unmatched, and he had an innate ability to navigate any challenge from breaking news to technical hiccups, whether in the studio or on location he was brilliant. Each Christmas, he and @WhichPennySmith would bring the crew presents, showing just how much he cared about the team. He was truly one of the good guys. Rest in peace, Stapes.

Annie Nightingale gave me the soundtrack to doing last minute French homework on a Sunday evening in the late 1970s. Thanks Annie you were fab. RIP

Well, after what I thought was a godsend ended up being a complete cock up! 100000 nectar point bonus awarded then due to @nectar mistake in giving it to over 3000 people they have now taken them back, absolutely gutted, thought I had a few months of stress free food shopping!

So humiliating
A day is a long time in politics... Given today's news, it's clear that we should turn to @RishiSunak to become our next Prime Minister. Rishi is immensely talented, will command a strong majority in the parliamentary Conservative Party, and will have my full support & loyalty.
Impossible to get it delivered though from Samsung. My delivery day missed. No communication from Samsung.

CNN team doing such a good job calling out this fake fraud nonsense. Refreshing to see top notch broadcasters challenging clear rubbish & not doing false equivalence when stuff is clearly not true & without any proper evidence

"We'll call it the NHS app so people trust it!" - "And will it work with NHS tests?" "No."
Replying to @DamoB1970
Hi Damian, If your test took place in a Public Health England lab or NHS hospital, or as part of national surveillance testing conducted by the Office for National Statistics, test results cannot currently be linked with the app whether they’re positive or negative. Thanks.

Why didn’t Matt Hancock say anything about masks? I still see so many people on buses & tubes not wearing them. Hard to socially distance on public transport which is getting busier. Confined space. Stale air. Hands on surfaces. I don’t see a lot of enforcing going on.

We are trialling NHS Covid-19 app in Newham. I have yet to find a single NHS QR code at a venue. Other QR codes are not recognised
Why was test and trace not compulsory for bars and restaurants from the start?
