Our National parks are simply amazing. You walk about 1.5 miles in from a busy highway ( Tioga rd. YNP) and within minutes you’re in a pristine protected wilderness. @NatlParkService

Had the opportunity to spend a few hours hiking California central coast area this week. Got to watch this hawk for about 20 minute as he actively hunted by Asilomar beach, then a great sunset over the Pacific from Carmel beach, finally a comet, looking west near Pebble beach.

Hiking the California central coast is full of variety. Hiked in Elk Horn slough last week. Lots of wildlife- , birds, wildflowers, rabbits , even a snake on the trail! Overall this place offers a quiet, sublime walk with miles of easy hiking.

The contrasting effect of wilderness adjacent to the giant smoke stacks from the old Moss landing Power Plant or the occasional distant passenger train slowly traversing the middle of the slough actually add to the experience and they do not break the spell here.

South Lake Tahoe, early yesterday afternoon. Bear Picnic - completely unfazed by cars and people walking by.

This is a Live shot from Yosemite today. Sadly you may be prevented from seeing this for a while. National Parks may close if Congress fails to prevent a gov. shutdown. “ Gates will be locked , visitor centers will be closed and thousands of park rangers will be furloughed”.

Happy 25th Birthday #VMware , Great to be here at the party on the Palo Alto campus - celebrating 25 years of innovation, Customer Passion and of course an EPIC2 culture. Thank you and congratulations to the world wide VMware team! @RaghuRaghuram

The Lone Monarch. From a population of millions in the 1980s the number of western monarchs has plummeted in last decades. It's early in 2022/2023 season but today I saw this single butterfly in a Eucalyptus grove in Big Sur - hopefully the first of many more this year.

Loved @kelseyhightower 's short talk on the journey from datacenter to VMs, to Cloud to Containers , to Kubernetes. Clear, Concise to the point - that's not just a lesson on cloud - but also a lesson in communication.#VMware #VMwareExplore2022

Gave my first #VMwareExplore 2022 presentation to industry analysts this morning with @RaghuRaghuram. It's great (and fun!) to be back to live events after nearly 3 years. Stay tuned for some great tech announcements over the next few days from #VMware and its partners.

Sometimes I forget about California's newest National Park -Pinnacles. it's small but has some great hiking. Sort of feels like a mini Zion NP in someways. Give it a try ( get there early!) while the days are still cool. 'cos it can get pretty hot here in summer! @PinnaclesNPS

The other Yosemite valley. Been to Yosemite Valley many times but recently decided to check out the Hetch Hetchy area. Super quiet and peaceful - Sierra Nevada hiking at its very finest. Right now ( April 22) waterfalls are fabulous.

While the engineer in me is truly fascinated by the 1920s built O'Shaughnessy Dam and the gravity system to take water to the SF Bay Area, this project's huge loss of 'protected' land in a National Pk is often credited with sparking the broad conservation movement #EarthDay22

Neighborhood cats. So last week it was a bobcat by the deck, that was sort of cute, last night the security cameras captured a bigger kitty about 7:30pm. Don’t think I’d like to meet this guy while sitting on the deck.
