Dating in another language is funny because you realize how much we overcomplicate communication You’ll find yourself saying things like “you’re cute, let’s grab lunch” rather than overthinking some clever pickup line. Mostly because you just don’t have the vocabulary And then it works and you go have a good time stumbling over words and finding connections along the way Eye contact matters more, physical touch and body language all become so important. Dating in your native tongue might feel more natural, but we often end up present ourselves through curated filters and personas which are all rehearsed and well articulated. Which can make things feel “fake” Doing it in a second language forces you to simplify every thought and just send it. Even if it’s not perfect, it always feels genuine. So it works out more than you think. Probably some deeper lessons to be learned there about life in general…. P.s. you should travel more if you can.
