Can you out run a dinosaur?! We sure tried!! We used our knowledge of trace fossil found by paleontologists to calculate the measure of dinosaur steps and compared them to our own!

This week we started fractions! Today we’re practicing our new skills as well as growing our brains with skills we will dive into next week! We’ve got fraction dominoes/dice w/ the bar model & number lines, spin to make a whole, and fraction tic-tac-toe w/ shapes & number lines!

Having kids practice reading words in a leveled reader or a book that is not decodable for them when they are learning the code is like…
…Teaching them to ride a bike but asking them to practice in a swimming pool.
It doesn’t make sense.

With each unit we set a post-assessment goal after scoring our pre-assessment. If we reach our goal, we celebrate our hard work! Last week my students surpassed their goal in both ELA & Math! We celebrated today with popcorn treat bags & a movie!

7th Annual Pancake Christmas Party🥞
I was asked why I make pancakes for my students each year. My answer was simple: I love cooking for others. I’ve loved it ever since my Grandma taught me how when I was a little girl. It’s one way I can show kindness & love to my kiddos. ❤️

Did I ever in a million years think I would teach math after dropping my math education major in college? lol no. Am I teaching math this year? Yes. Do I love teaching it? YES I DO!!!!! We are having so much fun in room 306 during math this year!!
