like i see the sentiment but is asking voice actors to be compared to screen actors really going to give them a chance to be honored? if they don't have a background in screen acting? in a room of people who bemoan animation because their kids watch it 'over and over'?
Tom Hanks says the Oscars don’t need a separate voice acting category because voice performances should be eligible to win Best Actor or Best Actress.
“The judgment is any performance that moved you. There’s been people who have been close to being nominated that do not appear on camera. That could happen to a pure-vocal actor.”
He also pointed to Andy Serkis as an example of a performer whose work goes beyond what appears on screen.
