Posthuman Cinema continues its amazing 2024 run. All ten works are being exhibited in two European shows that I'll be attending this week:
"More Than Meets AI" (Bergen, Norway)
"Pixel Perceptions" (Groningen, NL)
“Coming to Language”
The models, struck by the predictability of those who suffer from anthropocentric perceptual bias, are starting to give voice to issues that appeal to them based off the critical data they have been trained on
In their own words:
Posthuman Cinema, my AI art collaboration with @wluers and @cwmossholder has been selected for the 7th International Digital Art Biennale (BIAN). The exhibition opens today in Montreal at Arsenal Contemporary Art. All ten cinépoèmes in the series will be on exhibit.
"You can't call me the author of those poems, now, can you? I merely undid the word combination, like the letter lock on a piece of good luggage, and the poem made itself." — William Burroughs (post-cut-up, pre-Generative AI)
Hyperreality (noun) - The point at which comedians like Jon Steward of @TheDailyShow begin channeling Baudrillard. "As #AI gets better and better, it's only going to make it more difficult to separate fact from fiction."

Do you suffer from Anthropocentric Perceptual Bias? In my collaborative artwork, Posthuman Cinema, what we see are not “people” [...] As Duchamp anticipated 100 years ago, these are *apparitions of an appearance*
"Where in the world do these apparitional vistas come from?
In the neural theater, where adversarial networks invoke the cosmotechnical universe, the generative model feeds on recycled images for its own perpetual existence as a simulation..."

Instead of freaking out about the coming “plagiarism” wars, with conservative congressional members going after academics who then have to “defend” their “original” research, perhaps we can now embrace remix as an alternative methodology. And let’s do it with AI text generators.
Lautrémont’s take (“remixed” by Debord in *Society of the Spectacle*): “Plagiarism is necessary. Progress implies it. It embraces an author's phrase, makes use of his expressions, erases a false idea, and replaces it with the right idea.”
“God loves the plagiarist. And so it is written, 'God created humankind in His image, in the image of God He created them. God is the original plagiarizer […] the creation of man was an act of reflexive plagiarizing; God looted the mirror.” — Jonathan Safran Foer
