He was convicted in 2015 for: • Making false statements about a rival candidate (e.g., branding opponent John Biggs a racist). • Bribery (using council grants to influence voters). • Undue spiritual influence (via local imams and religious pressure on Bangladeshi Muslim voters). • Other issues like personation, postal vote irregularities, and false voter registrations.
