The most pivotal moment in my quizzing journey was at a quiz in Modern School Barakhamba Road The quizmaster showed us a lady's photo, asking us to identify her. I was the only girl in a room of 500 boys & only I knew it was supermodel Ujjwala Raut. But I didn't answer. (1/10)

Logging back into this hellsite since lots of foreign journalists follow me here: India's govt has recently passed a law robbing trans people of various rights & cutting off their support systems proposed a law to heavily regulate social media which basically curbs all dissent

These are just 2 examples. There is a systematic dismantling of all kinds of public dissent mechanisms โ€“ physical protests, online, independent news etc. India's media is fairly compromised already, and more so with these new laws & guidelines. Minorities are being targeted.

At this point documentation of what is happening is important, as is coverage of the strategic way communities are being stripped of their rights. I can't say exactly what we can and should do as of now, but whatever you can, you should. Logging out again.

Such a good read by @riachops . I loved how thoughtfully she captured the impact of internet on society, especially on early born Gen Z. The niche references to literature were absolutely amazing and added so much depth to the experience

thank you @scroll_in @aroomofwords for this lovely, perceptive review of the book.
In her debut book, Ria Chopra documents this socialisation in eight essays, combining cultural analysis with personal anecdotes. scroll.in/article/1090434/neโ€ฆ @aroomofwords reviews #NeverLoggedOut by @riachops

A lovely review of my book Never Logged Out in the Hindustan Times @htTweets today calls it 'insightful', 'perceptive', and my favourite, 'asks the right questions'. Read at the link below or in today's print HT newspaper.
"The eight essays in @riachops ambitious first book,ย Never Logged Out: How the Internet Created Indiaโ€™s Gen Z, are uniquely Indian even as they retain a global perspective" - @AnushreeNande reviews hindustantimes.com/books/revโ€ฆ

@riachops Never Logged Out is a fun breezy read about a generation that was born on the Internet. I straddle both generations and a lot of what the book talks about is a lived experience. Reminded me of the days when the Internet got unplugged when mum and dad got a call and then we had to kickstart the whole dial up modem again. But there are differences, Orkut, Quora, Yahoo Messenger, AOL, Usenet forums and the ethics of piracy donโ€™t feature in the book at all. Probably there is a space for a prequel curation about the 90s kid. Either way, would definitely recommend for the perpetually online to read the book.

Across generations, this session brings one hyperconnected world in a panel that decodes the cultural shifts of Indiaโ€™s successive digital generations. Independent journalist Ria Chopra serves as the Youth Advisor to Google via Canvas8. Her debut novel, โ€˜Never Logged Out,โ€™ explores a generation born into and raised by the internet, observing how larger cultural forces affect individual lives. In โ€˜The Great Indian Brain Rot,โ€™ Anurag Minus Verma, influencer, writer and podcast host, uncovers the cost of โ€˜freeโ€™ social media, its dodgy trail of propaganda, and the strife for authenticity. Santosh Desai, CEO of Futurebrands, author and columnist for Times of India, chronicles in โ€˜Memes For Mummyjiโ€™ the ways in which the mobile phone changes the everyday life of Indians. At the Jaipur Literature Festival 2026, presented by Vedanta, in conversation with Chirag Thakkar, Senior Associate Publisher at Bloomsbury India, they discuss the personal and social realities of Indiaโ€™s digital presence. The session is live at Charbagh. Presented by Sakal Media Group.
